NARAI RATCHANIWET PALACE IN LOPURI

Thailand besides being one of the mostly visited tourist places is also well known for its palaces. There are more than 10 palaces in Thailand. Nara Ratchaniwet Palace is one among those palaces. The palace is located in the centre of the town between two towns namely Ratchadamnoen Rd. and Pratu Chai Rd. It was built by the king Narai of Ayuttaya. The palace was built in the year 1677. After struggling for hardly fought 12 years the construction of the palace was completed. The construction is such that, every pavilion has a history behind it. The palace has now been transformed into National Museum of Lobpuri.

There is a water reservoir at the centre of the palace which served as the water storage during the king’s period. The twelve treasure horses called the phra khlang Supharat was built for storing and selling the royal treasures. The palace also has reminiscences of elephant and horse stables. There are two main pavilions viz. chanthon phisan pavilion and phiman Mongkut pavilion. The former was used by the king as the royal residence during his reign from 1665. After moving this residence to other pavilion, this pavilion was used an audience hall.

The latter was constructed by the King Mongkut and is a three storied building. Both these pavilions were constructed in the middle of a beautiful garden. A banquet hall is also constructed to entertain the foreign tourists. The construction of the palace shows the uniqueness of the architects of the Thailand and they make sure that no blends of French architecture are mixed. Because of this non-plagiaristic approach in construction, this palace still remains one of the must visit places in Thailand.

The height of the temple measures somewhere around 86 meters and has two terraces. There prangs have tridents and the central prang has the so called “trident of Shiva”. The second terrace has the statues depicting the scene in which Indira god riding on Erawan. As a legacy, the temple also has the statues of the demons that were depicted in the epics. MUSEUM OF TERRACOTTA WARRIORS AND HORSES

The museum of Qin Terracotta warriors and horses and The Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum are the new addition to the already existing tourist places in China. The excavations were started during the 20th century and they became an internationally acclaimed tourist area by 1st of October 2010. This museum and three more unopened sites nearby constitute the Lishan Garden. This garden is one of the most beautiful gardens one would have witnessed. As the museum and three other nearby places were excavated, the museum is divided into three pits as per their discovery. They are named pit no.1, pit no. 2, and pit no. 3. As they were sorted by their discovery dates, the pit no. 1 is the first and largest pit in the museum.

The excavation led to the discovery of numerous potteries and weapons. The pit no. 1 has columns of soldiers at the front followed by war chariots. The pit no. 2 was opened in the year 1994 and has thousands of warriors and chariots of wood. The museum features life sized terracotta figures of warriors and horses which are arranged in battle formations. They replicate the imperial ground that looked like pomp and vigor in those days. These two are the striking features of the museum. The transit between the museum, three newly discovered places and the garden is made easy by means of shuttle buses. Around 40 shuttle buses are plying between these places. The museum will be opened from 8.30 in the morning till 17.30 evening. A maximum of three hours is recommended for any tourists to visit this museum. It is one of the sights not to be missed by any visitor to china.
